Our Story:
In college, Mohammad and Zara were on the complete opposite ends of the state, in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh respectively, but met at a collegiate dance competition in 2018. They exchanged instagram handles in passing and that was when an invisible string connected them until their love story began in 2022 when Mo slid into her DMs after she posted about loving the new Pakistani song, Pasoori. After exchanging just a few messages and bonding over the fact that there were very few Pakistanis on collegiate dance teams, Mo asked Zara out to dinner. They spent hours at this dinner and Mo quickly asked Zara out on a second date. Soon after that, Zara had planned a long trip to Pakistan and on a 6-hour layover back to the US, they spent 4 of those hours talking, and that’s when they knew this was a forever thing. As soon as Zarareturned, Mo brought dinner over to her place and asked her to be his girlfriend…and the rest is history!
The Proposal:
Mo had planned the proposal months in advance to Zara’s mom visiting the states. He had to book the date out in advance so Zara wouldn’t be suspicious. He tricked her into thinking it was a gala for work and that she would have to dress up for it. She bought a brand new dress and was excited to meet Mo’s “colleagues” that he so often spoke about. She was a bit confused as to why it was being held in New Jersey when he worked in New York, but he was able to make up silly lies to get her to stop asking questions. Little did she know, he had the day off and was setting up the proposal. Mo treated her to a nail appointment so she could have the perfect manicure for the big day. She called him soon after the appointment to panic about her nails that she hated, but he had to act like he was very busy since he was setting up the proposal for her at the time. He quickly assigned one of Zara’s best friends to help resolve the nail crisis. As she was on her way, Mo was a little nervous because he wanted it to be the perfect proposal. When Zara got there, Mo met her in the parking lot, and walked in where the photographer was waiting to capture the moment. Mo began expressing how much he loves her, which left Zara confused, until she realized what was happening. As they continued to walk up to the proposal set-up, she was left speechless with the set up Mo had put up for her. She couldn’t remember a word that Mo had just said because of the shock, but said “Yes!” as soon as he got down on one knee.
