How We Met
It was during the fall of 2020 when Anurag and Varnika met for the first time in Houston. Anurag was in his fourth year of medical school and Varnika had just started her graduate program at Santa Clara University. Varnika was deeply disappointed she could not move to California for the program since all her classes converted to completely virtual due to COVID. Little did she know that the world had other plans for her. In late October, Anurag and Varnika found themselves in the arena of online dating. After seeing Varnika’s profile on Hinge, Anurag sent her a virtual rose and the match was made. Their first meeting was at a classic Houston coffee shop , Common Bond, and the rest is history!
The Proposal
Due to Anurag’s demanding residency schedule, vacations were far and few in between for Varnika and him, but they had decided that in April 2023 they would do a European vacation. Spring time came and Varnika and Anurag jetted off to the beautiful Netherlands with a jam packed itinerary. On the third day of their trip, they were traveling to a small town outside of Amsterdam to go to the famous tulip garden, Keukenhof. They were strolling around the beautiful garden and were just about to take a photo in a beautiful boat photo opp where Anurag dropped to one knee and proposed. Varnika was completely shocked since the day before her trip, her ring designer ( Houston local, Lindsey Leigh Jewelry) told her that the ring wouldn’t be ready for another 6 weeks! Safe to say it was an extremely successful surprise and of course Varnika said yes as the crowd at the garden cheered excitedly for the happy couple.
