The Proposal
In May 2024, Jovan drove in to Chicago to visiting Varna Chicago after both he and Varna had finished their exams and were about to begin their third year of medical school. They spent their Saturday in true “Varna and Jovan” fashion—with a pedicure, Chipotle, and binge-watching the newest season of Selling Sunset. Midway through the day, Jovan casually pulled out three Reformation dresses and asked Varna to pick one to wear “for dinner.”
A little suspicious, but intrigued, Varna got ready and followed Jovan to River Point Park. As they walked down a quiet path, she saw a red carpet, candles, and a glowing “Marry Me” sign set against the city skyline. There, Jovan got down on one knee.
Moments later, both of their families popped out from hiding, adding to the joyful surprise. But the night wasn’t over. After a round of happy tears, they took photos, shared stories from the weeks leading up to the proposal, and soaked in the moment together.
Thinking they were headed to an intimate dinner with their families, Varna walked into a riverside celebration where she was greeted by 40 of their closest friends from all over the country. The night unfolded into a joyful celebration of love—full of laughter, dancing, and the people who mean the most to them.
