Urvi + Neil, a Merion, New Jersey Wedding

Our story:

Freshly graduated from law school in Boston and settling back at her parents’ home in New Jersey after 10 years of constant moving, Urvi had sworn off relocating for a while. That was until a job offer came along and turned her plans upside down. Imagine her dismay when she had to pack up her life once again and move six hours back to the city she thought she had left behind. Little did she know, this unexpected twist of fate would lead her straight to Neil.

Call it a technology glitch or perhaps fate, but Urvi and Neil matched online despite setting their preferences to “local only.” From the moment they connected, it was clear that distance didn’t matter. What started as casual texting quickly evolved into long phone calls, where they discovered shared values, interests, and a connection that felt truly special. Luckily, Neil lived only two hours from Boston, instead of the six hours it would have been if Urvi still lived in New Jersey.

Fast forward to October 16, 2021. There they were—Neil in his signature tri-colored Ravens sweatshirt, and Urvi, who reluctantly embraced the world of public sweatshirt fashion (which, to her surprise, she would soon come to love)—on their first date at Rosa Mexicano in Boston. That night was a perfect blend of chance and destiny, marking the start of their love story. It proved that sometimes life’s unexpected detours lead us exactly where we’re meant to be.

The Proposal

Urvi and Neil’s engagement unfolded amidst the serene beauty of the Palomar Mountains on April 23, 2023. In a clever ruse, Neil lured Urvi under the pretext of a San Diego work trip, only to reveal a breathtaking surprise—a beautiful secluded mountaintop home. But Neil had yet another trick up his sleeve. The following evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, he orchestrated a picturesque proposal, leaving Urvi speechless. However, Neil’s meticulous planning overlooked one crucial detail—he forgot to plan dinner for the special occasion he had asked Urvi to get dressed up for. Luckily, their photographer had surprised them with a cake before departing, saving them from a two-hour drive down the mountain in the dark, as Uber Eats was non-existent atop the mountain. While cake is not the ideal dinner, they both will cherish the sweet memory forever. Against the backdrop of a California sunset, with a heartfelt “yes!” from Urvi, their journey from engaged to “I do” began, marking the start of their happily ever after.
