Tasnia & Tanvir, A Lindenhurst, NY Wedding

How We Met
Tanvir and I met through our families—technically arranged, but he calls it “love-arranged.” From the start, we connected through a deep friendship. We were together for 1.5 years before getting married and always say we’re best friends first, a couple second.

Building Our Wedding
We wanted our wedding to feel personal, joyful, and meaningful. We drove headfirst into DIY! For our ceremony, we made favor bags with dates and holy water. At the reception, we hand-filled honey jars. Our Mehndi had a mela-style vibe with gajre, bangles, earrings, and a custom Connect Four game featuring our faces for the kids.

Inspired by weddings we’d seen online and guided by our planner, we added touches that reflected our story. Seeing elements from our day later used by family and friends made it feel full circle.

One of my favorite moments was after the ceremony—Tanvir and I sat privately, ate calamari, and quietly watched guests arrive on screen before our reception. It was a peaceful moment just for us—the calm before the celebration. It was perfect for us.
