How We Met
Shahzad and Sabrina had crossed paths several times over the years, but their encounter in Birmingham, Alabama, at Moe’s wedding changed everything. Shahzad drove in from Dallas, while Sabrina, Moe’s cousin, flew in from Houston with her family. They exchanged only brief greetings during the festivities. After the wedding, Shahzad’s friend encouraged him to reach out to Sabrina. When she landed in Houston, she found a message from him. Over the next three weeks, they connected through long phone conversations and FaceTime. When Shahzad visited Sabrina for their first date, their in-person connection felt effortless, and both realized they were a perfect match!
The Proposal
In December 2023, amid a busy month, Shahzad told Sabrina about a work holiday dinner. He was vague on details, and Sabrina noticed he seemed irritable, likely due to the rainy weather. When they arrived at the supposed dinner location—a rundown building—Sabrina was skeptical. They climbed multiple flights of stairs, and as they neared the rooftop, Sabrina heard Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and realized what was happening. On the rooftop, a musician played, a photographer captured the moment, and Shahzad proposed! Sabrina said yes, and after celebrating, Shahzad surprised her with an engagement trip to Las Vegas!
