United in Love, United in Cultures: Shahaab & Rukmini’s Wedding Saga
The heartwarming tale of Shahaab Bhanji and Rukmini Mahurkar, whose love story transcends cultures and continents, culminated in a breathtaking wedding at the grandeur of Samode Palace in Rajasthan. Shahaab, a Muslim, and Rukmini, a Maharashtrian, found love amidst the bustling streets of New York City.
Their journey began at their first job after college, where fate brought them together. From the moment they met, it was as if the universe had aligned just for them. Rukmini’s parents welcomed Shahaab with open arms, feeling an instant connection as if he had always been a part of their family.
Despite living in the fast-paced world of New York, Rukmini remained deeply rooted in her Indian heritage. That’s why, when it came time to say “I do,” they knew their wedding had to be in India.
After seven beautiful years together, they embarked on the journey of marriage. Despite the distance, they meticulously planned every detail of their Indian wedding from across the ocean, ensuring it was a celebration of their unique love story.
Their wedding festivities were a harmonious blend of both their cultures, embracing each tradition with open arms. The Nauvari sarees worn by guests added a regal touch to the vibrant celebrations, infusing the atmosphere with elegance. From the vivid hues of the Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies to the solemnity of the Qubool Hai in the Muslim tradition and the jubilant Phereas in the Maharashtrian tradition, each moment spoke volumes about their love and unity. As Rukmini descended the staircase in a resplendent red Sabyasachi lehenga, her radiance outshone all else, enchanting everyone present.
Amidst the swirl of tradition and heritage, it was the intimate details that truly captured the essence of their union. Rukmini adorned herself with Shahaab’s Nani’s cherished wedding jewellery, and Shahaab placed Nani’s mangalsutra around Rukmini’s neck during the Phereas.
Immersed in the blessings of the Quran and the Mangalashtak, and enveloped in the warm embrace of family and friends, Shahaab and Rukmini embarked on a journey of lifelong celebration.
