Jugpreet & Priya, an Intercultural Wedding Marathon
From high school sweethearts to husband and wife, Jugpreet and Priya‘s story is the definition of true love. When they met back in 2013, they had no idea their high school romance would turn into taking on college together, supporting each other through first jobs, persevering through distance due to work obligations, standing hand in hand through the most beautiful marriage proposal, engagement party, and two big, fat Indian wedding ceremonies!
Jugpreet and Priya are grateful they got to share a piece of their backgrounds with each other and family and friends during their six day nine event wedding week. Jugpreet is Sikh Punjabi and Priya is Hindu Gujarati. Because of this, they respected both cultures in having an Anand Karaj (Sikh Wedding Ceremony) and Hindu Wedding Ceremony.
Their families also attended each other’s respective pre-wedding functions, like Jugpreet’s Jaggo (that Priya‘s side crashed as a surprise), and Priya‘s Raas-Garba. Priya’s family also partook in the choora ceremony, a tradition done by Punjabi brides. Being able to blend the two families together to experience each other’s traditions meant the world to the couple. To celebrate their love, family and friends flew to New Jersey from all over the world to attend this jam packed wedding week of endless love, laughter and memories.
These past eleven years have been nothing short of a rollercoaster for the couple, with all the highs, adrenaline rushes, breathtaking moments, speeding through life sitting right beside each other, and agreeably, a ride they never want to get off of. Their wedding week was reflective of their love story: a beautiful marathon filled with an abundance of love, fun, and mixing cultures that flew by, just as time continues to fly by when they are together. This was certainly a wedding to remember and a chapter in Jugpreet and Priya‘s story they will cherish forever.
