Blog Nisha + Raj, an Omni Orlando Wedding
How We Met
Nisha met Raj at the age of 4 as family friends when her family moved to Kansas City. They spent summers at each other’s homes playing board games, hanging out in the backyard, and watching movies. In high school, Raj asked Nisha, “So Nisha, what kind of guy do you want to be with?” Nisha paused for a second and blurted out, “Honestly… someone exactly like you!” Of course, she didn’t realize it at the time, but Raj was becoming more than a friend. He started to fall for Nisha at the beginning of college and made his move right before she left the military. Perhaps not the best timing on Raj’s part, but he spent the next six months communicating with her only through letters. When she came back, he planned the perfect first date with everything she loved. He even surprised her with the surprise Cinderella carriage ride on the Plaza, something he knew she wanted since she was a little girl. Although Raj and Nisha are aware that very few individuals in this world get to the experience the kind of love story they are blessed with, they realized the core foundation to their relationship is commitment and respect for each other. They have been with each other every step of the way including military training, law school, MBA school, medical school, long distance, and additional familial obligations. After eight long years of dating, Raj and Nisha could not be more happier to tie the knot with a wedding weekend that celebrated their personalities, their journey, and their unconditional love for their each other.
The proposal
When Nisha finished her step 1 board exam in medical school, she felt disheartened that she might have failed one of the most important exams of her career (luckily that was not the case and she is a doctor now). Raj wanted to treat Nisha to a trip to Orlando at his vacation home, a place where they created many memories together. A proposal was truly the last thing on Nisha’s mind. Raj told Nisha that she needed to dress well for a wine tasting at the clubhouse. She thought he was overdressed for the occasion, but she didn’t question it. As they were walking to the Bella Collina clubhouse, she noticed a simple but beautiful floral decor. Raj told Nisha that they should check it out. She thought it would be rude as she thought it was someone’s private wedding ceremony. He convinced her nonetheless. As they were walking down the steps, out popped the photographer and videographer. Leave it to Raj to make a girl go from feeling defeated to feeling like the luckiest person alive. Fun fact, Raj popped the question at the same place where he told his father that he liked Nisha for the first time.
When it came time to choose a wedding venue, there was no other place they wanted to get married. Orlando has and will always be a special place for them and they were so excited to share their love for the city with their family and friends.
