Planning, Designing and styling: Salar Event Planning
The East meets West wedding design was inspired by the shared cultural heritage of Salar Event Planning’s owner Nafeesa Salar. Being born and raised here in Canada, having lived here all her life while having a Pakistani cultural heritage inspired her to create a design that had elements of both eastern and western cultures. The challenge was to create a design that not only had elements of both cultures side by side but rather were incorporated and meshed with each other creating a smooth and flawless design. The colour scheme was inspired by this year’s colour(s) of the year, namely:emerald green, nectarine, linen, cherry maroon and coral pink.
The flowers added a touch of drama. The centrepiece flower ball stood on a tall vase on which elegant touches and details of gold were added.
A touch of eastern design was incorporated into the theme by adding beautiful lanterns to the design as well elegant draping with golden tassels. The stationary was created using emerald green cardstock with touches of golden and nectarine to complete the look.
The sharp eye will notice a little incorporation of a shabby feel in this classy design. The favours on the guest table on which the place cards rest are wooden, as well as the frames on the sweet table. All of which were spray painted in gold.
To top it all off, we added a touch of henna on the bride’s hands and complemented her beautiful look with eastern jewelry and the cultural tikka jewel on the forehead. The dress of the bride is of a unique western elegance with golden embroidery which is so commonly used in eastern fashion – we felt it fitted perfectly and complimented our design!
