Blog Dhruv + Shivani, Huntington Beach Hyatt Wedding
Though Dhruv and Shivani unknowingly shared the same university, walked the same halls, and had countless mutual friends, their paths never crossed—until a mutual friend and one unexpected Instagram message changed everything. A casual “practice date” over Thai food quickly became something more. The connection was instant—easy, familiar, and undeniable. From that night on, everything started to shift.
The moment it all became real was when Dhruv surprised Shivani with origami rose petals spelling out her name, one of the first of many quiet, thoughtful gestures that marked the start of something meaningful. It was thoughtful, creative, and perfectly them. From the beginning, they’ve found little ways to surprise and challenge each other—something they plan to carry with them always.
The Proposal
As a Bay Area girl, Shivani always dreamed of a San Francisco proposal—so pulling off a surprise at the Golden Gate Bridge was no small feat. With 60+ loved ones secretly involved, the day began with a decoy farewell party for her MBA move to NYC. Guests dressed up for a fake party bus trip to Napa, complete with outfit coordination and a fake flyer. Shivani, believing it all, even convinced Dhruv to fly up as her plus one—unaware he was the one proposing. He chose a trampoline park near the bridge as their meeting point, faked a group message, and even toggled location services with others to keep the surprise intact.
For the proposal, Dhruv recreated the origami roses from when he first asked her out, surrounded them with floating candles, 100 sets of red roses, photos of their journey, and their names spelled out on the walkway. With the Golden Gate Bridge behind them, he spoke about their story, got down on one knee, and proposed with her dream ring. After a photo shoot, they headed to lunch with family, followed by a surprise evening party at a wine bar packed with over 60 friends and relatives. Shivani had dresses picked out just for her, and the night ended in joy, laughter, and a full album of memories
