Akash & Aarti, A Sheraton San Diego Resort Wedding

On January 19, 2025, I married the love of my life, Akash, and our wedding weekend was more than just a celebration — it was an authentic reflection of who we are as individuals, as a couple, and as a family. Every single detail was meticulously planned by me and my company, Majestic Mango Events, with the goal of creating unforgettable moments that elevated the wedding experience for everyone who attended.

Pithi/satak: Surprise decor change

We each had a combined Pithi Satak ceremony but what our guests didn’t know was that during the 20min snack break between the 2 events we secretly changed all of the decor in the room to make it feel like guests were entering into a whole new space. Our initial beach theme transformed into a Mughal Mirrored Mahal filled with red roses.

Garba Sangeet: A Cinematic Extravaganza

Our Garba Sangeet was themed “A Movie Set in Rajasthan,” designed to transport guests into the vibrant colors and culture of Indian cinema. The space was draped in bright fabrics, and custom movie posters featured our VIP guests’ faces photoshopped onto iconic Indian films. A custom DDLJ-inspired movie poster photobooth allowed guests to create their own cinematic memories, with details like “designed by the bride’s dad” and “produced by the groom’s mom” adding a personal touch.

The Wedding: A Real-Life Fairytale

Our wedding theme was an enchanted fairytale brought to life. Guests entered through a giant open book that read, “Once upon a time, a boy named Akash met a girl named Aarti and fell in love.” Inside, they were immersed in a magical forest where greenery and florals covered the ceiling, and the scent of roses filled the air.

The groom made a grand entrance on a trolley, breaking away from the traditional horse or sports car. I also surprised the guests by performing a dance during the Bharat in a traditional red wedding gown making guests think I was a traditional bride and then I later changed into a custom made modern pink gown adorned with custom details like our names, dogs, Ganesh embroidery, and more.

One of the most memorable surprises was my reveal — a tree curtain rising to the ceiling to unveil me as the bride. Instead of a traditional fire bowl for our sacred pheras, we had a custom lotus-shaped fire pit. To honor our parents, as we circled the fire, videos from their wedding ceremonies played on large projection screens, showcasing the generational love that inspired our union.

The Reception: A Galactic Disco Nightclub

For the reception, we created a futuristic, disco-galactic nightclub experience. Guests were welcomed on a live red carpet with interviews capturing their favorite moments from the weekend. Instead of a standard seating chart, guests received custom luggage tags with their names and table numbers, doubling as a keepsake. Inside, the space featured LED mesh lighting installations, 50-foot LED panel displays, and a surprise entrance that started with a custom cartoon animation before the screen dropped to reveal us, the bride and groom.

Our wedding was more than an event — it was a journey filled with love, laughter, and endless surprises, with each detail thoughtfully designed to reflect our personalities and values. Being featured on your cover would not only honor the creativity and love behind our wedding but also inspire couples to think outside the box when celebrating their own love stories.
